Benefits of the Social-Emotional Learning System, Pt. 2
The social-emotional learning system has also been shown to be most positive for at-risk kids, the ones most likely to fail academically, making it beneficial regardless of anything like class, race, sex/gender, etc.
A learning system that teaches students to develop their self-awareness, empathy, and social problem-solving skills, helps them detach themselves from extra stress, stress that inhibits the areas of the brain involved in concentration and memory.
A learning system that deeply values social-emotional skills will extend and help a student throughout his or her entire life, unlike physics equations (for most). This may be the technological age, but interacting with others in a healthy manner still constitutes a considerable part of achieving success.
