Bay Area LMS Company Partners with Infant Swimming Resource to Distribute Online Courses on Child Survival Swimming

Coggno Inc. | Jan, 29 2010

San Jose, CA, January 29th 2010, Coggno, San Francisco Bay Area LMS (Learning Management System) service provider has teamed up efforts with Infant Swimming Resource (ISR, www.infantswim.com), the safest provider of self-rescue swimming lessons for children six months to six years of age, in the effort to deliver online courses via LMS, to more than 450 ISR student and certified instructors around the world. These courses specifically focus on the certification and re-certification for instructors that are teaching infants and young children ISR’s self-rescue technique, in addition to water safety education for parents.

Nothing strikes fear into the heart of a parent more than the thought of their child becoming another number in the statistics of infant deaths due to swimming pool accidents. Drowning is the leading cause of death in children ages under 4 years old. 4-6 children that survive a potential drowning situation suffer from brain damage and may accrue a substantial amount of medical fees to care for the child. ISR has devoted their efforts in creating behaviorally-based instruction courses designed for children ranging from the ages of 6 months to 6 years old.

ISR lessons teach children how to survive in the water if they find themselves in trouble by equipping them with self-rescue skills. The ISR program for student instructor development is a six-week comprehensive educational experience that includes academic and in-water training. The student instructor program focuses on child development and learning theory, the behavioral sciences, anatomy, physiology and physics.

“Every child learns at his or her own pace during lessons. With more than 40 years of research and development behind ISR’s technique, our certified instructors are recognized as highly skilled aquatic behavior specialists who understand a young child’s unique, cognitive, intellectual and physical development dynamics,” said Amy Pritchett, Director of Program Expansion. “Combined with new studies in teaching methods by ISR, state of the art modules, and a compliant learning management system, Coggno offers a turnkey solution for distribution in aquatic safety for our instructors.”

About Infant Swimming Resource

Founded in 1966, Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is nationally recognized as the safest provider of swimming lessons for children six months to six years of age. With a primary focus on baby swimming safety, and as the nation’s only behaviorally-based instruction program, ISR designed its program for parents who are dedicated to their child’s safety, education and developmental needs. Our emphasis on ensuring that not one more child drowns is founded on Dr. Harvey Barnett’s self-rescue training program, proven to help young children survive in a drowning scenario. ISR’s worldwide network of highly qualified, certified Instructors has successfully trained more than 200,000 babies and toddlers and delivered more than seven million lessons with a 100 percent safety and survival rate, with zero injuries and 788 documented cases of a child’s self-rescue using ISR techniques.
